Hong Kong’s stock market is experiencing a significant revival, driven by a wave of new listings from Chinese companies that are rekindling investor interest and boosting market activity.

After several years of sluggish performance, 2024 saw the first rise in new IPOs since 2020. A total of 63 listings raised $10.65 billion, representing an 80% increase compared to the previous year. The highlight was the $4 billion IPO of Chinese appliance manufacturer Midea Group, the largest offering in Hong Kong since 2021.

This momentum is supported by Beijing’s more supportive policies towards offshore listings, encouraging mainland companies to seek capital in Hong Kong’s market.
