This decline coincided with a significant transaction involving 2.02 crore shares, representing 0.6% equity, being traded at an average price of Rs 4,043 per share.
The sudden surge in trading activity suggests a substantial change in ownership structure, with indications pointing towards Tata Sons as the likely seller, reportedly offering 2.34 crore shares in India's leading IT service firm.
The floor price of this offering stands at a 2.6% discount to the previous closing price of Rs 4,144.25. Market data reveals that these shares were traded in five batches.
As of December 31, 2023, promoters retained a 72.41% stake in TCS, predominantly held by Tata Sons (72.38%) and Tata Investment Corporation.
Despite the recent decline, TCS remains the second most valued listed company in India, boasting a market capitalization of Rs 15 lakh crore. At 9:18 am, TCS shares were observed trading nearly 3% lower at Rs 4,030.65 on the National Stock Exchange, following a 1.78% decrease in the previous session's closing price.
Sharekhan, optimistic about TCS's prospects, has recommended a "buy" stance on the stock, setting a target price of Rs 4,750.
This bullish outlook stems from TCS's robust domain expertise, extensive geographical presence, and its adeptness at cross-selling.
Sharekhan analysts foresee resilient revenue growth for TCS, particularly in the upcoming fiscal years.
They anticipate this growth is fueled by the ramp-up of large deal wins, demand recovery across key sectors like BFSI, and the exploitation of emerging technology service opportunities.
Furthermore, the brokerage anticipates revenue growth being propelled by partnerships with prominent entities such as JLR, Nest, BSNL, and Aviva, alongside continuous margin improvement driven by revenue growth and operational efficiencies.
In conclusion, Sharekhan believes that TCS's strategic advantages, coupled with market dynamics favouring tech sector growth, position the company favourably for sustained success.
