Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the expansion project of the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited's (BPCL) Bina Refinery, located in Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh. This significant project comes with an estimated investment of Rs 50,000 crore. Currently, the refinery boasts a capacity of 7.7 million metric tonnes per annum, with plans to expand it to 11 million metric tonnes per annum through this project, as stated by Sagar Collector Deepak Arya.
The BPCL Bina Refinery, initially inaugurated in May 2011 by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, plays a pivotal role in the nation's energy infrastructure. The expansion aims to bolster its capabilities and meet the growing demands of the energy sector in India.
In addition to the refinery expansion, Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for new units at Hadkal village, situated approximately 70 kilometres from the district headquarters. The expansion of the Bina Refinery aligns with the government's broader vision for energy security and self-sufficiency. Prime Minister Modi's visit to Sagar district marks his second trip to the Bundelkhand region in Madhya Pradesh within a month.
