Ola Electric has been making headlines recently due to a string of high-profile executive exits, raising concerns about the company's leadership stability. Several top executives have resigned in 2024, continuing a trend that has negatively impacted the company's stock.
On December 30, shares of Ola Electric Mobility dropped more than 3 percent after the latest resignations of key personnel—Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Anshul Khandelwal and Chief Technology & Product Officer (CTO) Suvonil Chatterjee. Both executives stepped down on December 27, citing personal reasons.
Both Khandelwal and Chatterjee had been with Ola Electric for several years, having initially joined the company's ride-hailing business before transitioning to the electric mobility division.
Chatterjee, who joined Ola in 2017 as Head of Design, and Khandelwal, who started as Head of Marketing in March 2018, were considered vital members of the team. Following their resignations, shares of Ola Electric Mobility were trading at Rs 87.44 on the NSE by 09:28 am.
The recent exits come amid a broader trend of senior-level departures within the company. In November 2024, N Balachandar, the Group Chief People Officer, left the company after overseeing human resources for both Ola Electric and its associated businesses, including Ola Cabs and Krutrim AI. Earlier, in October, Ravi Jain, Business Head of Krutrim AI, and Sidharth Shakdher, Chief Business Officer of Ola Mobility, also resigned.
Shakdher went on to join Paytm after playing a key role in several major initiatives during his short tenure at Ola.
Other notable departures included Mahesh Alanthat, VP and Head of Sales at Ola Electric, who resigned in October, and Kartik Gupta, CFO of Ola Cabs, who stepped down in May after a brief period.
Earlier in 2024, Ola Cabs CEO Hemant Bakshi exited just three months into his role, prompting Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola, to retake leadership. These exits have sparked concerns about the company's ability to retain senior talent, which, in turn, has dampened investor sentiment towards the Bhavish Aggarwal-led group.
