Inox India has been awarded a significant contract by Island Power Producers (IPP) to design, engineer, and supply a Mini LNG receiving and regasification terminal in The Bahamas.
This state-of-the-art terminal will supply natural gas to IPP’s 60 MW combined-cycle power plant, which is being developed to provide shore power to cruise ships at the Nassau Cruise Port.
The new terminal is expected to serve as a model distribution hub for smaller LNG users across the region, supporting power generation and meeting other energy demands throughout The Bahamas.
With a collective LNG storage capacity of 15,000 m³, the terminal will feature the world’s largest installation of shop-built double-walled vacuum-insulated LNG storage tanks.
This groundbreaking setup will include 10 vacuum-insulated storage tanks, each with a 1,500 m³ capacity, and a cutting-edge regasification system.
These tanks will be the largest of their kind ever manufactured by INOXCVA, marking a significant milestone as the largest order ever received by its LNG business division.
Once operational, this Mini LNG Terminal will be the largest of its kind for INOXCVA and the first dedicated facility in the region to supply shore power to cruise ships.
In addition to its role in supporting cruise ship operations, the terminal will also be equipped to receive LNG from smaller vessels and reload LNG into ISO containers.
This will facilitate the distribution of LNG to other users in the vicinity. The contract for this third and largest Mini LNG terminal comes just after the successful completion of INOXCVA's second Mini LNG terminal in Antigua.
This expansion highlights the growing adoption of LNG as a fuel, particularly in remote areas, and reflects the increasing demand for innovative energy solutions in the Caribbean and beyond.
