Bajaj Auto Limited saw a remarkable surge in its stock price, reaching a 52-week high of Rs 5,078 during early trading on September 15, following a shift in sentiment and a revised recommendation from BofA Securities. The brokerage firm upgraded its rating on Bajaj Auto from 'Neutral' to 'Buy' and also raised the target price to Rs 5,550, indicating an approximate 15 per cent upside potential from the closing price on September 14, which was at Rs 4,826. The previous target price set by analysts stood at Rs 5,100.

BofA Securities analysts highlighted several factors that contribute to the current positive outlook for the two-wheeler automotive giant, stating that it is indeed the "time to triumph" for the company. They pointed to multiple triggers that are driving this newfound optimism in the market.

One significant driver of optimism is the gradual recovery observed in the domestic two-wheeler industry. After a period of challenges and uncertainties, the industry is showing signs of revival. This recovery is seen as a positive indicator of Bajaj Auto's performance. Additionally, BofA Securities noted that the three-wheeler segment, another important market for Bajaj Auto, is also on the path to recovery, further bolstering the company's prospects.

In their assessment, the brokerage firm stated that all segments of Bajaj Auto's business are well-positioned for positive growth, particularly in the fiscal year 2025. This positive sentiment is not confined to the domestic market alone. BofA Securities also expressed optimism about Bajaj Auto's export operations, highlighting that they have turned a corner and are expected to experience improved performance. The recovery in exports is underscored by August's export figures, where Bajaj Auto reported a two per cent growth, with 1,24,211 units exported.

Moreover, the report emphasized that in addition to domestic recovery and improved exports, Bajaj Auto's foray into the electric vehicle (EV) sector can drive a re-rating of the company's valuation. The EV segment is gaining prominence worldwide as countries and consumers increasingly shift towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation options. BofA Securities sees Bajaj Auto's involvement in the EV market as a significant opportunity for the company's growth and a factor that could positively impact its valuation.

In light of these factors, BofA Securities projected that Bajaj Auto, headquartered in Pune, India, is poised for a robust revenue compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 14-15 per cent from the fiscal year 2023 to 2026. This forecast reflects the brokerage firm's optimistic outlook for the company's performance and its ability to capitalize on the favourable market conditions in both the domestic and international arenas.

The upgrade and revised target price from BofA Securities have resonated with investors, as reflected in the surge in Bajaj Auto's stock price to a 52-week high. The market response indicates a growing consensus that Bajaj Auto is well-positioned to leverage the positive developments in the two-wheeler industry, the three-wheeler segment, and the promising electric vehicle market, setting the stage for a period of sustained growth and value creation for the company and its shareholders.
