Detroit Lions Cornerback Terrion Arnold Arrested on Eight Felony Counts Carrying Possible Life Sentence After Alleged February Tampa Kidnapping

The Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office announced late Wednesday that Arnold, 23, is accused of being the "primary conspirator" in the targeted armed robbery and pistol-whipping of three men he suspected had stolen more than $250,000 in cash and goods from his Airbnb hours after two co-defendants accepted plea deals and agreed to testify against him.

The charges and the state's case

Arnold faces four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery stemming from an incident on February 4, 2026, in which seven people allegedly participated in a targeted armed robbery and kidnapping of three men in their late teens in Tampa, Florida. 

Arnold, 23, is accused of being the "primary conspirator" before three men in their late teens were held at gunpoint, battered and pistol-whipped in February in Tampa, according to the Tampa Police Department. 

The Florida state attorney's office accused Arnold of "coordinating and directing" the robbery and beating of Arnold's personal driver and two of the driver's associates by several of Arnold's co-defendants, after Arnold accused the driver of arranging the theft of more than $250,000 in cash and goods from an Airbnb he was renting in February. 

The timeline of events

On February 1, 2026, personal items belonging to Arnold and others were stolen from the Airbnb. Arnold suspected that two of the three victims were involved in the theft, but Tampa police ruled them out. On February 3, Arnold and co-defendants Boakai Hilton Jr., 23, and Freddie Hughes, 27, reported property loss to the Largo Police Department totalling over $250,000. Police allege that same day, Arnold and Hilton coordinated with co-defendants Arianna Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo both 19-year-old women to lure one of the victims into their apartment. Around midnight on February 4, the victims drove to the apartment, where co-defendants Christion Williams, 24, and Lyndell Hudson II, 26, were hiding inside a closet. The two men then grabbed the victims, held them at gunpoint, and hit them. 

The driver denied involvement in the theft, and Largo Police, who investigated the theft, consider the case inactive. 

The plea deal timing and why it matters

Arnold was arrested hours after two defendants in the case Arianna Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo agreed to plea deals in court on Wednesday. Those individuals have agreed to testify in court on the matter. 

The timing is significant. Arnold had previously and publicly denied any involvement. The plea deals by Del Valle and Randazzo, who were directly involved in the operation to lure the victims, created cooperating witnesses whose testimony the state attorney's office is now relying upon to build its case against Arnold as the alleged organiser.

The office intends to file a pretrial motion to keep Arnold in jail until trial, stating in its release that "he remains a danger to the community." A date for that hearing has not been set. 

Arnold's denial and his defence team's response

Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management, said in a statement: "There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences." 

The Lions' statement and Arnold's recent activity

The Detroit Lions said in a statement: "We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold. We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process." 

Arnold had been present at Lions minicamp at Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park as recently as June 17, 2026 just one week before his arrest where he had spoken to media members after practice. 

Arnold was selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama. He has not been convicted of any offence. An arrest is an allegation, not a conviction.

The unique angle worth noting: Arnold's arrest came within hours of the plea deal announcements a sequencing that is not coincidental. Under Florida law, cooperating witnesses in kidnapping and armed robbery cases can have their sentences substantially reduced in exchange for testimony against a principal conspirator. The state attorney's office effectively used Wednesday's court session to lock in two cooperating witnesses before announcing Arnold's arrest the same evening a tactical decision that signals prosecutors believe the cooperating testimony is the core of their case against him, and that they moved to secure it before Arnold could contest its admissibility or negotiate his own position.
