Tensions Rise Between US and China Again
So, it looks like trade talks between the US and China aren’t going anywhere fast. Former President Donald Trump recently posted on Truth Social, saying it’s “extremely hard” to make any deal with China’s President Xi Jinping. He said he likes Xi, always has, but working with him? Not so easy. This came just after both countries had started easing up on the heavy tariffs they’d slapped on each other.

China didn’t take Trump’s comment lightly either. They clapped back, accusing the US of breaking the deal themselves. Honestly, things were already on edge. Now, the whole agreement that was supposed to bring some peace is looking shaky again. This isn’t just some back-and-forth—it’s starting to affect global trade in a real way.

OECD Warns: Global Growth Taking a Hit
Because of all this back-and-forth, the global economy’s slowing down too. The OECD has lowered its forecasts for most of the big economies in the G20 group. They’re saying this trade mess is messing with business confidence, making investors nervous, and driving prices in weird directions.

Basically, if the US and China can’t find some common ground soon, things could get worse. The economy needs stability, and this ongoing trade war isn’t helping anyone.

US-EU Tensions Heating Up Too
And it’s not just China. The US is also butting heads with the EU. Trump has been threatening to double tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, taking them from 25% up to 50%. With the July deadline getting closer, trade talks between US and EU officials are picking up again. They’re meeting in Paris, trying to find some kind of deal. But whether that happens is still a big question.

Court Battles Over Tariffs Add to Confusion

To make things even more complicated, there’s a legal fight going on back home. A court had blocked some of Trump’s biggest tariffs, saying the way they were rolled out wasn’t lawful. But then another court allowed them to stay in place—for now, at least. So, even in the US, it’s not totally clear what’s going to happen next.

 

The White House says that even if the courts say no, they’ve got other options on the table. So, we’ll have to wait and see what route they take.

China and US Clash Over More Than Just Tariffs
Besides trade, the US and China are also going at it on other fronts. There’s been tension over rare earth minerals, tech restrictions, and even education. The US just started canceling visas for some Chinese students. And on top of that, military leaders are talking tough too. The US recently called China a real threat to Taiwan, and of course, China wasn’t happy about that.

So yeah, things are tense. And while leaders are still talking about deals and phone calls, nothing solid has come out of it yet.
