Elon Musk has officially stepped down from his role in the Trump administration, ending a high-profile but controversial stint as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The White House confirmed Musk’s offboarding began on May 28, following growing tensions between Musk and President Trump over fiscal priorities.
Initially brought on to drive radical government cost-cutting, Musk promised to slash $2 trillion in federal spending. However, DOGE has so far reported only $175 billion in savings.
