Delhi Police SWAT Constable Dies After Alleged Assault by Husband; Case Turned to Murder

A woman constable of the Delhi Police, posted with the elite SWAT unit of the Special Cell, succumbed to her injuries on January 27, five days after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband at their residence in west Delhi’s Mohan Garden area.

The victim, Kajal, sustained critical head injuries during the incident, which reportedly occurred on the night of January 22 at around 10 pm. According to preliminary police findings, she was allegedly struck with a dumbbell during a domestic altercation.

Victim Was Serving With Elite Police Unit

Kajal had joined the Delhi Police in 2022 and was currently serving with the highly trained SWAT team of the Special Cell. She married the accused, Ankur, in 2023. Ankur is employed as a clerk with the Ministry of Defence and is posted at Delhi Cantt.

Investigators stated that the marriage was a love marriage, but the couple reportedly had frequent disputes over financial matters, which may have contributed to ongoing tensions. However, police have clarified that the investigation is still ongoing and motives are being examined based on evidence.

Hospitalisation and Legal Action

Following the alleged assault, Ankur took Kajal to Tarak Hospital in Mohan Garden, where she was admitted in critical condition. Despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries on January 27.

An attempt to murder case was initially registered at Police Station Mohan Garden, and Ankur was arrested and sent to judicial custody. After Kajal’s death, police added relevant sections of murder to the case.

Authorities have stated that due process is being followed, and forensic and medical reports will play a key role in the prosecution.

Gurugram Case: Man Arrested for Allegedly Forcing Wife to Convert and Assaulting Her

In a separate incident, Gurugram Police have arrested two individuals, including a man accused of deceiving a woman by concealing his religious identity and allegedly forcing her to convert after marriage.

The case came to light on January 27, when police received information about a woman being hospitalised following a severe physical assault. During questioning, the victim told authorities that the accused introduced himself as Aarav and married her through Hindu rituals after allegedly hiding his real identity for over four years.

Allegations of Deception and Coercion

According to the complaint, the accused later pressured the woman to change her religion and allegedly subjected her to repeated physical abuse. She further alleged that he threatened to kill her during frequent arguments.

Police stated that the accused allegedly planned the relationship by using a false identity, luring the woman into marriage and then coercing her after the wedding. Two accused have been arrested on charges including cheating, assault, criminal intimidation, and religious coercion.

Authorities have emphasised that both cases are under active investigation. Statements, medical reports, and digital evidence are being examined to ensure accountability under the law.
