HFCL, a prominent player in the realm of optical fibre cables (OFC) and communication solutions, has successfully secured a substantial ₹353 crore through a qualified institutional placement (QIP), as announced in an official exchange filing. This financial move garnered significant interest, with the issue being oversubscribed fourfold. Notably, Reliance Industries, acting through its investment arms Reliance Ventures and Reliance Strategic Business Ventures, as well as Quant Mutual Fund, increased their stakes in HFCL as part of this placement.
The HFCL board, in alignment with SEBI ICDR Regulations, greenlit the allocation of 5.10 crore shares at a price of ₹69 per share, offered exclusively to eligible qualified institutional buyers. Monarch Networth Capital played a pivotal role as the sole banker facilitating the QIP. In the wake of this successful placement, HFCL's stock, which had already rallied nearly 20% over the past month, experienced a 4.5% uptick, closing at ₹76.2.
Reliance Industries, a significant player in India's corporate landscape, holds a substantial 5% stake in HFCL, with its involvement extending through two subsidiaries, namely Reliance Strategic Business Ventures and Reliance Ventures. Quant Mutual Fund, on the other hand, had a 2.49% stake in HFCL as of June 30, 2023.
Looking ahead, HFCL is poised for remarkable growth, especially as it plans to introduce 5G connectivity to more than 100 million households within the next five years. This ambitious endeavor positions the company as a key player in India's evolving telecommunications landscape. Furthermore, HFCL is well-positioned to reap the benefits of BharatNet phase-2, a government initiative aimed at expanding digital connectivity across the country. This initiative could potentially result in orders exceeding ₹1 lakh crore for optical fibre cables, presenting substantial growth opportunities for HFCL. As of June 30, 2023, the company boasts an impressive order book worth ₹6,585 crore, underscoring its strong market position and growth potential in the communication and connectivity sector.
