Adani Power witnessed a positive surge in its stock value, climbing by nearly 1 per cent on the NSE as of the morning of December 26. This uptick followed the significant development wherein a consortium, with Adani Power playing a pivotal role, received the approval of the Committee of Creditors (COC) for the acquisition of Coastal Energen (CEPL). The latter is currently undergoing the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) as mandated by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.
The regulatory filing on December 23 highlighted that the COC of CEPL has greenlit the resolution plan submitted by the consortium, triggering a positive market response. Adani Power, as a key participant in the consortium, received a letter of intent from the resolution professional, marking a crucial step in the acquisition process. It's noteworthy that the implementation of the resolution plan is contingent upon fulfilling the terms outlined in the LOI and securing necessary approvals from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and/or any other regulatory body as per applicable laws.
As of 9:30 am on December 26, Adani Power's stock was trading in the green at Rs 515, indicating a 0.48 per cent increase from the previous day's closing value. This favourable market movement reflects investor optimism regarding the consortium's successful resolution plan for Coastal Energen.
In the financial realm, Adani Power reported robust figures for Q2FY24, demonstrating its financial prowess. The net profit for the quarter stood at Rs 6,594 crore, a significant leap from Rs 696 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. Revenue also witnessed a remarkable 84 per cent year-on-year increase, reaching Rs 7,044 crore. Moreover, the Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA) for Q2FY24 experienced an impressive 202 per cent surge, amounting to Rs 4,336 crore.
These financial indicators underscore Adani Power's resilience and strategic positioning in the market, reinforcing investor confidence. As the acquisition of Coastal Energen progresses through regulatory channels, stakeholders can anticipate further positive developments in Adani Power's growth trajectory.
