HDFC Bank Limited The Bank is a private sector bank with its headquarters in India. The Bank offers a variety of banking services, including transactional and branch banking for regular customers as well as commercial and investment banking for wholesale customers. The Bank's Treasury division principally comprises of net interest income from its investment portfolio, borrowing and lending on the money market, gains or losses on investment operations, and transactions in foreign exchange and derivative contracts. Through the bank's branch network and other channels, the retail banking segment provides services to consumers. The wholesale banking segment offers loans, non-fund facilities, and transaction services to large corporations, emerging corporations, public sector entities, governmental agencies, financial institutions, and medium-sized businesses.

The RBI gave Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) in-principle clearance to establish HDFC Bank Limited, a private-sector bank, in August 1994. For the second quarter and the six months ended September 30, 2022, HDFC Bank Limited published financial results. The company posted a net income of INR 111,252.1 million for the second quarter, up from INR 90,961.9 million in the same period last year. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations were INR 20.01 as opposed to INR 16.44 a year earlier. Comparatively to INR 16.32 a year ago, diluted earnings per share from continuing operations were INR 19.93. Net income for the six months increased from INR 170,182.8 million to INR 207,043.2 million. Basic earnings per share from ongoing activities increased from INR 30.8 to INR 37.27. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations were INR 37.12 as opposed to INR 30.58 a year earlier.
